There have been many rumours, mutterings, promises, assumptions over the last 12 years about D’Angelo’s return to the stage and studio. There have been “leaks” of unreleased material, hype in magazines and online, but nothing really became of all that talk…until now. A few months ago magazines and online publications began to murmur about D’Angelo’s European tour and the release of his new album called “James River”, like most people I thought that it all was too good to be true and wouldn’t really happen, he’d cancel the tour and slink back into the shadows. WELL, was I wrong and I’m happy about that. D’Angelo is indeed back and in fine form. It kind of feels like Christmas to me. There is an excitement and curiousity in me that hasn’t been around for a long time, it’s such a great feeling! I’ve checked out all of the live footage of his concert in Stockholm and it’s like he never left! He sounds amazing, his band sounds amazing and his new tunes are fabulous! I can’t wait to buy the album so I can listen to it in my headphones without distractions. I’m so ready to devour this album and take it all in.
