At this very moment I’m flexing my songwriting muscles and have begun a marathon of writing. I have to complete a shwack of songs in the next 3 weeks for various musical endeavours. Some songs have starts, some are co-writes and of course I’ve got lots of bits, but now comes the hard part, the moment where those bits need to become whole and the moment when I question my very existence and life choices. Ha ha! It’s a beautiful thing to be involved in so many creative projects and to have the experience of living in a hyper creative state, but this next stage has me reflecting on my creative process.

I often think that the act of creating can sometimes feel like waiting for a hint of inspiration and clear direction or like an epic wrestling match that can leave you a little worse for wear, either way requires faith and patience. What I find most interesting is that whether I “wait” or “wrestle” the result is the same. The songs, are either great, okay, mediocre or horrible. Interesting. If the end result is the same then why not choose the process that is a little gentler? I think that’s what I’ll do.

Wish me luck!
