Two masters, one song…Joe Pass and Ella Fitzgerald recorded together often as a duo. This particular version was recorded in 1973 on their album called “Take Love Easy” which is a beautiful collection of standards that I highly recommend checking it out. The whole album is like a rich, warm, mellow glass of merlot that swirls nicely in your mouth. Ella and Joe made such a great duo because they were wonderful collaborators who knew to respect the melody, when to create space and when to fill it up. Ella’s singing is impeccable and Joe’s playing is sublime. He really covers a lot of ground on the guitar and creates a beautiful sonic palette. I can only imagine what it would feel like to sing in such a cushion of luxurious, enveloping harmony.

Ella Fitzgerald and Joe Pass – You Go to My Head

They are so playful, heartfelt and skillful with their storytelling. It’s hard not to be intoxicated by their warm, intimate sound on this version of “You Go to My Head”.  I recommend putting some headphones on and laying back to listen to this gorgeous track!

Enjoy! I hope your Sunday is easy.
